Deburring ECM (ECD)
Deburring ECM, or Electrochemical Deburring, is a highly effective application of ECM used to remove burrs from machined parts quickly and consistently. It is ideal for internal or hard-to-reach burrs that are impossible to address with mechanical tools.

Materials Machined
- Steel (carbon, alloy, stainless)
- Nickel based alloys
- Aluminium
- Brass and Copper
Market Sectors
- Aerospace: Hydraulic components and gearboxes.
- Automotive: Engine parts and fuel injectors.
- Defence: Firearm components.
- Formula 1: Engine and transmission parts.
- Medical: Orthopaedic and surgical instruments.
Key Benefits & Numbers
- Dramatic Time Savings: Reduces the deburring time from minutes to seconds per part.
- Total Burr Removal: Removes burrs as small as 20 µm that are impossible to remove consistently with mechanical methods.
- Cost Efficiency: Eliminates the need for a manual deburring labour force, reducing production costs by up to 70%.
Relevant Industry Standards
- ASTM B888: Standard Practice for the Specification of Electrochemical Deburring and Finishing of Metals.
- ISO 13715: Technical drawings—Edges of undefined shape—Vocabulary and indications on drawings.
- SAE AS5045: Standard for the removal of burrs on aircraft and aerospace hydraulic systems.
